New Report, New Format: Hendo vs. Busta
Today marks the release of our newest fight report on the bout between Dan Henderson and Murilo Bustamante. This is the first in a series of reports on the many close decisions that have marked Henderson's career.
We did an experiment a while back with the report on Griffin vs. Edgar. As opposed to all the other reports on the site, that one did not have an introduction or explanatory text on the striking and grappling pages. No one complained, which confirmed our notion that it's the numbers people are interested in, not the text.
The Hendo-Busta report takes this one step further. This report eliminates the text on the decision page as well. The truth is that it's the text, not the numbers, that has kept us from releasing more of these reports. We have the data to populate dozens of reports and an automated system that can generate reports in a few minutes, but writing detailed analyses takes time. It's our intention that by reducing the amount of time necessary to create reports we can provide much more content than before. We will reserve the detailed commentary for the fights that really need it.
